Running Good for the bowels

Before all of this began I was a bit of a runner at heart. Well plodder really. I used to love the long summer evenings when My husband came home from work, I would often pop out 3-4 times a week for a 3 mile run, ahh those were the days - and in true determined style I will have those days again.

Running is my thing - well I hope for it to be again. I used to find it good for the body and mind - and of course the bum - great for the saddle bags!

As with writing I find running to be a great stress releiver, I'm actually hoping to take part in a race for life - in aid of cancer research.

This will be  a big step for me as it will be the first race I have entered into, and also the first proper run since I have had bowel cancer. Well I say the first run I did do a mile or so when I was on Chemo, but it was very very slow (I was actually competing with a snail at one point), decked out in ski gloves and all - in June!, so more of a crawl really, but at least I did it and that was great for my mental strength. This year I have tried to get back into it and have managed fairly well, although now I have to really listen to my body as when it says enoughs enough thats it time to stop although my mind wants to push it a bit more I have to be firm and stop!. I sort of run on empty, as I cannot eat before I run as I would need the loo so I arm myself with jelly babaies to get the all important sugar boost and off I set. Which in fact is a good link to my next peice....

My Editor on A November, to Remember has run the marathon before, and also doing a RACE FOR LIFE, Julia Williams has her own website at www.marathonmum.com , and has also written a book entitled : RUNNING ON EMPTY - DIARY OF A MARATHON MUM, with some of the proceeds going to The Tadworth Childrens Trust, which was who Julia ran for in the London marathon raising £2300.00 towards the charity - Well Done Julia!!!!.

Julia was always very supportive of the book and of my cancer,  so I wish her every success in her venture. She has just signed a deal with a major publisher for her romantic novels - so really 2007 will be her year

Remember always forward never back.
